Cholecystectomy

This policy covers surgical removal of the gallbladder (laparoscopic or open) for management of gallbladder stones and common bile duct stones. It applies to elective and emergency pathways.

Joint Capital Resource Use Plan

The joint capital resource use plan shows the planned use of capital funding for the coming financial year for Central East Integrated Care Board and its partner NHS trusts and foundation trusts.

Sterilisation Reversal (Male and Female)

This policy covers requests for surgical reversal of sterilisation in males (vasectomy reversal) and females (reversal of tubal occlusion)

Lymphoedema Services – Specialist Treatment in the Private Sector

This policy covers requests for specialist lymphoedema treatment delivered by independent sector providers outside of routinely commissioned providers and pathways including outpatient and inpatient private sector provision.

Hyaluronic Acid Injections – All Joints

This policy covers requests for intra-articular or peri-articular hyaluronic acid (and derivatives) injections into any joint

Knee Arthroscopy  (washout/lavage +/- debridement) for Osteoarthritis

This policy covers arthroscopic washout/lavage of the knee, with or without debridement, as part of treatment for knee osteoarthritis

Ganglion Excision (hand/wrist)

This policy covers requests for the excision of ganglion cysts of the hand and wrist, including: Wrist ganglia, Seed (palmar) ganglia and Mucous cysts. It applies to primary and recurrent ganglia.

Exogen® Bone Healing System – Fresh Fractures

This policy covers use of the Exogen® low-intensity pulsed ultrasound bone healing system for fresh fractures, including those at low or high risk of non-healing.

Dupuytren’s Contracture Release 

This policy covers requests for Dupuytren’s contracture release including surgery and injections

Dysthyroid Eye Disease (TED)

This policy covers requests for surgical Management of dysthyroid (thyroid) eye disease (TED). Medical management of mild TED is routinely funded.

Referral to Specialist Weight Management Services 

This policy covers referrals to consultant-led specialist (or tier 3) weight management services 

Bobath Therapy -Intensive Neurodisability Therapies

This policy covers requests for Bobath therapy or similar intensive neurodisability programmes including referral for assessment and/or treatment at Bobath centres or equivalent providers.

Dilatation and Curettage (D&C) for Heavy Menstrual Bleeding

This policy covers Dilatation and Curettage (D&C) requested for diagnosis and/or elective treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB)

Biological Mesh

This policy covers requests for the use of biological mesh in abdominal wall hernia repair or closure of laparostomy.

Surrogacy

This policy covers requests for NHS funding (including part-funding) for surrogacy arrangements and any treatment delivered as part of a surrogacy cycle Including both “traditional/straight” and “gestational/host” surrogacy where NHS funding is sought.

Tonsillectomy for Tonsilloliths

This policy covers tonsillectomy requested solely for tonsilloliths (tonsil stones).

Removal of Adenoids for Treatment of Glue Ear

This policy covers requests for adjuvant adenoidectomy undertaken at the same time as grommet insertion for treatment of glue ear (otitis media with effusion).
